A series of case studies to showcase real world examples of win-win clean air policy solutions for climate and health at COP28 (and beyond), to better equip the health sector to serve as effective change agents. It demonstrates different approaches to engage the health sector, at different levels of local data and capacity, to advance scalable clean air solutions.

Collecting and visualising data on air pollution is an essential first step for clean air campaigns. HabitatMap has revolutionised air quality data collection through their low-cost, wearable sensors. Campaigners worldwide use these sensors to advocate for environmental justice.

Support a global network of advanced PM2.5 monitoring sites that improves the quality of global air quality data resources (e.g. global health impact assessments) by improving satellite data and global-scale air quality models. This grant will maintain operations of the network, sustain and enhance both global- and local-scale applications of the data, and diversify SPARTAN’s funding base.

This grant support WRI’s CanAIRy Alert programme to launch and run an air pollution forecast tool and pollution origin insights tool. This grant will help develop these further and enable greater usability by the testbed cities, and also enable wider knowledge-sharing between other global south cities.

To ensure that credible evidence on the impacts of air pollution on people’s health and on effective solutions is better communicated and understood at a local and global level. This project will help to ensure that data is delivered to decision makers in a way that informs and drives ambitious action towards cleaner air.

This project will bridge evidence gaps on the health impacts of air pollution and help partners to communicate their findings to media, public and decision-makers more effectively. This project would create a practical, tangible toolkit, in the form of a dedicated training module to develop air pollution-specific skills in science-communication and media messaging, anchored in proven communications tactics, but specific to air pollution themes and its particular challenges.

This co-funded capacity development project is built around a train-the-trainer programme for city and government policy-makers in Latin America and the Caribbean to quantify health impacts of air pollution and health benefits of policy change using the AirQ+ toolkit. This project aims to be a global pace-setter for other WHO/UNEP regions to replicate.

This project will establish a dedicated programme of work on air pollution and a clinical fellow programme for paediatric health professionals. The project will develop knowledge and skills among peadiatricians, the child health community, clinicians, academics and community partners - including children and young people - to evaluate actions and champion policy change for clean air.

This project will mobilise health community advocacy groups to call on Governments to act on air pollution as an urgent health and child development priority. It will convene a panel of experts from the UICC membership to develop evidence-based resources, and to highlight the evidence on air pollution and cancers.

This project aims to develop resources to build capacity of members of the cardiology societies and heart foundations around the world to raise awareness and advocate for policy change in support of improved air quality. In collaboration with affiliate organisations (WHO), WHF will strengthen efforts to improve air quality and the evidence of cardiovascular disease burden from air pollution.
