Ruaraidh works with the Data Portfolio team to increase access to data and drive policy change. That means working with colleagues, grantees and policymakers worldwide to support innovation and create new opportunities for researchers, advocates and citizens.
Ruaraidh has worked in air quality across academia, charity and the third sector for more than a decade. He gained his PhD from the University of Stirling in 2019, focusing on the use of low-cost air quality sensors to encourage behaviour change. His subsequent academic experience includes research in air pollution monitoring, environmental epidemiology and behavioural science, authoring more than 30 peer-reviewed articles on air pollution exposure, health and behaviour and serving as the UKRI Clean Air Champion for Scotland.
In 2022, he founded Trilateral Research’s Air Quality and Net Zero programme, leading development of the award-winning STRIAD:AIR tool to integrate air quality and health data. Outside his work at Clean Air Fund, Ruaraidh teaches and supervises Public Health students at London Metropolitan University and holds a position as Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Stirling.
Why Ruaraidh works for Clean Air Fund:
New technologies mean air quality data is more available than ever. But making sure useful, actionable, and impactful data is available where people need it most remains a challenge. Clean Air Fund works globally to make the biggest impact possible, creating data that drives policy change and helps save lives.
