Venetia Bell has been appointed as the first-ever Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Clean Air Fund, the world’s largest philanthropic organisation dedicated to tackling air pollution.
The Clean Air Fund has raised $130m to support hundreds of air quality projects globally, including some of the most polluted countries like Ghana, India, Poland and South Africa. The organisation has backed the roll-out of transformative clean air measures in Poland and the UK, encouraged the World Bank and other donors to boost investments in clean air projects, and engaged multinational companies on lowering their air pollution emissions.
Overseeing our strategic growth and direction, Venetia’s role is pivotal to delivering our ambitious strategy to accelerate action on clean air and to strengthen the case for air quality globally.
As a former Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Gulf International Bank (GIB) and Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Venetia brings a wealth of experience in heading up climate and sustainability initiatives. At GIB, Venetia led the drive to embed sustainability and responsible banking principles in the bank’s work. She also spearheaded an award-winning, multi-stakeholder initiative to enhance data and funnel private capital towards humanitarian and resilience projects.
It is a huge privilege to have the opportunity to lead operations at the Clean Air Fund. I am excited to support our talented team as we scale our efforts to accelerate action on air pollution globally. My focus will remain on maintaining high standards of our outputs and outcomes, always putting people at the heart of what we do.
